Easter eggs for seafarers

12th April 2016

Sue White, AoS Parish Contact for St Pius X in Grimsby shared this with us.
“A month ago I asked our parish to think about seafarers as we approached Easter. I thought how seafarers get such a lot from being able to take part in the Easter Mass, the washing of the feet and all that Easter gives us when they reach the Port of Immingham.
“I know how they enjoy the Christmas shoeboxes our parish collects for them so a plea was put in our bulletin and mentioned at our local Justice and Peace group meeting for an extra Easter egg to be bought when people went shopping.
“The North East Lincolnshire Catholic community, St Joseph’s Academy and St Michael’s Church, Little Coates community groups, did us proud.
“Approximately 300 eggs were distributed by [AoS Immingham port chaplains] Fr Colum Kelly and Steve Willows and the team of volunteer ship visitors.”

Well done Sue and all of you who contributed towards this. Thank you!
And here are some photos of the delighted seafarers receiving their 'goodies'.
