BBC Radio Solent: Seafarers woolly hats

23rd March 2016

BBC Radio Solent journalist Sarah Bassett recently followed Apostleship of the Sea (AoS) South Coast port Reverend Roger Stone on board the Basic Rainbow to record him visiting the ship's crew and giving out woolly hats.
The joy on the faces of the crew said it all - they were extremely happy to get the hats which would keep them warm as they went from one port to another to work.
They were also delighted to see Roger, who they know well - a friendly and welcoming face - always ready to support them as and when the need arises.
Sarah also spoke to Lester a seafarer, and two lovely ladies, Kathleen and Mary, who knit the hats and so willingly give their talents and time to a very worthy cause supporting seafarers.
The interview was broadcast on the Sunday Morning show with Tim Daykin and you can listen to the interview here.
