AoS supporter gets Papal Medal

29th November 2015

In recognition of 25 years of sterling service to seafarers on behalf of Apostleship of the Sea, Pope Francis awarded AoS supporter John Robinson with the Papal Medal Bene Merenti.
John, a former ship visitor was given the medal by AoS Southampton port chaplain Rev Roger Stone at the parish of St Joseph and St Edmund.
Roger spoke of John's unwavering commitment to Apostleship of the Sea and the thousands of seafarers who have come to the port of Southampton over many years.
"John is a genuine man, with no side, no arrogance, a true servant of the Lord, a good, honest Catholic man who loves his family, friends, his neighbour and God. He is a Christian," said Roger.
Roger added that it was fitting that John received the Papal Award in the church where he celebrates mass every Sunday, surrounded by his immediate family and many friends.
Well done to John and thank you for all you have done for AoS and seafarers!
