Welcome Fr James

07th August 2013
Tony McAvoy, port chaplain in Teesport has sent us this image of him and Fr James just after he had celebrated Mass at their mutual home parish of St Bernadette's, Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough on Sunday 28th July. Fr James was ordained to the priesthood earlier in July at St Mary's Cathedral by the Rt Rev Terence Drainey, Bishop of Middlesbrough. This was a joyous occasion and one of reunion, as Fr James had spent time with Tony at Teesport on a placement during his days as a seminarian at Ushaw College, before moving on to Oscott to complete his training.
Fr James recalled how much he had enjoyed meeting seafarers during ship visits, and indicated that he would be willing to celebrate Mass on board ship, and will be a firm supporter of the work of AoS.
