Christmas shoeboxes for seafarers

30th November 2015

Well done to the wonderful parishioners of St Patrick's Church in Leiceister for organising and collecting Christmas shoeboxes for seafarers. They collected a grand total of 156 shoeboxes, well done! The gifts were handed over to Apostleship of the Sea (AoS) Immingham port chaplain Fr Colum Kelly. This is the eighth year that they have done this!
The transfer of the boxes to AoS was done at Woodall Service station on the M1 motorway.
Fr Colum said, "It was rather poignant this year in that one of the key people behind the collection, John O'Grady, died during the year and this was our first 'pilgrimage' to Woodall without him. However his wife, Pat, was there to ensure that all ran smoothly."
A HUGE thank you to the wonderful team who made this happen and to the fantastic parishioners who donated gifts, money and their time to make this possible.
